🔗🌟 Sex Work Without Shame: Marie on Feminism, Kink and Booking Desire
There are conversations where you can almost feel language changing in real time.
This episode with Marie, founder of Moonlight Society Berlin, was one of them.
Because we did not talk about sex work as scandal.
Or pity.
Or danger.
Or something to be whispered about after three glasses of wine and a nervous laugh.
We talked about sex work as work.
As intimacy.
As communication.
As fantasy.
As emotional intelligence.
As a space where people can bring desires they may have never said out loud before.
Marie founded Moonlight Society as the agency she once searched for herself: an escort agency rooted in care, ethics, transparency, and the spirit of Berlin’s sex-positive and kink-aware community. On her website, she describes Moonlight Society as a space for people of all genders and desires to meet someone “without judgment, performance, or shame.”
And that is exactly where our conversation went.
We talked about what it means to create an escort agency that centres the well-being of escorts, not the profit or convenience of the agency. Marie shared how her own experience as an escort shaped the foundation of Moonlight Society, and why she wanted to build something different: a space where communication, consent, preparation, and emotional safety are not nice extras, but the whole point.
What I loved most is that this conversation kept returning to women.
Women who are curious.
Women who are in relationships but not sexually fulfilled.
Women who want to explore kink, BDSM, touch, fantasy, or companionship without performing for anyone.
Women who may not know exactly what they want yet, but feel that there is something there.
And honestly, that might be the most important part.
Because so many of us have been trained to think that we need to arrive with a perfect answer. A perfect fantasy. A perfect sentence. A perfect version of our desire that is polished, reasonable, attractive, and easy to understand.
But desire is rarely that tidy.
Sometimes it starts with:
“I don’t know exactly what this is, but…”
“I saw something and it stayed with me.”
“I think I want to be touched differently.”
“I’m curious, but I’m also nervous.”
“I want something to be about me.”
Marie talks beautifully about how Moonlight Society makes room for that. Not just through the people she works with, but through the whole process: the profiles, the communication beforehand, the attention to setting, the check-ins, the STI conversations, the possibility of changing your mind, and the idea that an encounter can be consciously created rather than rushed into.
We also talked about kink-aware sex work, and why that matters. Not because everyone needs to be kinky, but because kink-aware spaces often understand something we could all learn from: communication before, during, and after. Boundaries. Needs. Wishes. Clear consent. The right to pause. The right to renegotiate. The right to say, “Actually, today I need something different.”
Maybe the most beautiful phrase that came out of the conversation was this:
A brave space.
Not just a safe space, but a brave one.
A space where people can be honest about what they want.
Where shame does not get the final word.
Where desire is not ridiculed.
Where people are allowed to be curious, tender, filthy, unsure, bold, shy, specific, vague, and human.
This episode is for anyone who has ever wondered what sex work could look like if it was built around care.
It is for anyone curious about booking companionship, but unsure where to begin.
It is for women who have spent too long making sexuality about everyone else.
And it is for everyone who wants a more honest conversation about sex work, feminism, kink, pleasure, and the radical vulnerability of saying:
This is what I want. Can you help me explore it?
